About Us

The Racial Unity Team was formed because of the tragic June 2015 shooting of nine Black people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina. The shooter wanted to start a revolution of hate. A small group of people in Exeter decided instead to start a revolution of love.

The first public event, Walk a Mile for Racial Unity, was held that September. Each year since, our programs and influence have grown, bringing us to where we are today- affecting change for racial justice throughout New Hampshire.

In 2025, we marked ten years of impact, a decade of building bridges, fostering belonging, and empowering communities across the state. What began as a volunteer movement has grown into a statewide organization, now led by an Executive Director and supported by passionate interns and volunteers. Together, we continue the work of transforming a moment of tragedy into a lasting movement for unity, equity, and love.
