The Racial Unity Team is hosting its seventh annual Art & Poetry Challenge in 2025. New Hampshire residents are invited to submit a poem or visual work of art inspired by this year’s theme: “Building Bridges, Tearing Down Walls.”
For teachers and parents encouraging students to participate, please consider the following questions:
How can we learn about others’ experiences, identities and perspectives?
Despite our differences, how can we find connections with others and appreciate the value that different perspectives bring to our community?
What does it mean to build bridges between people?
How does it feel to make connections with others?
How does it feel when there is a barrier to connecting with others?
What does my community need to improve to build bridges across difference?
How can we communicate better to tear down walls between us?
What can our communities do to have conversations across difference in a respectful way?
Resources for all age groups are available here: [add link here]. They are offered to all participants and are especially meant to assist teachers and parents discuss the theme with students as they create their submissions.
